Okay, I'm feeling so techno-savy right now! I just added this little ticker at the top of my page from lilypie.com to my blog. It was very easy!
Sometimes its the little victories in life that mean the most! Ha!

Myra is ONE!
I can't believe it! Myra is growing so fast. She walked across the room today for the first time. Everyday seems to hold its share of "firsts". Many of you have not had the opportunity to meet Myra, yet. So I'm going to take a moment ad tell you about our precious Myra. I never brag about my child, but since it is her birthday blog, I'm going to take the liberty.
She is a joy. Myra smiles and waves at everyone! Going to the grocery store with her takes a while because she makes everyone feel like they are her new best friend. Myra makes the silliest faces! She has so much personality in that little 21 pound frame! You never wonder what she is thinking... her expressions speak louder than her goo's and ba-ba-ba's! Myra picks up on things very fast. She is smart. Don't let those big blue eyes full you when she sneaks off to get into something and looks at yu with that, "Who me?" gaze. Most of all, Myra is so loving! She blows kisses in her sleep! She loves to cuddle and hug. Her little "aaww" sound she makes when she hugs your neck, her stuffed animals, or her friends just melts my heart! She truly is a big bundle of love! She enjoys books and balls. She reads books during the day about every 15 minutes. Then she gets up and chases a ball around or helps with the laundry. Myra is our sweet miracle from above and every day is a reminder of how great our God is!
Well, a year ago I was wondering how I was going to survive this amazing adventure of motherhood. Sleepless nights, painful nursing, sore body, weird emotions... things nobody tells you about giving birth was all very overwhelming. It was the most exciting and amazing time of my life as well! The precious little baby in my arms was given to me from my Father above and I was filled with such joy and awe. A year later I am still awestruck. I am still healed of Lupus and enjoying life with Ross and Myra as I had dreamed of doing. Here's a shout out to all my prayer warriors! PRAISE GOD for you!
I've attached some pics of Myra's Birthday. We had all been sick with bronchitis so we look a little pooped. We didn't get to enjoy a cake made by me... but the party went on!
As you view our pics, say a little "praise prayer" for the blessings in our life and yours!

First visit to the pool
Here ae some pictures of Myra and her cousin Hank. This was Myra Kate's first visit to the pool with Aunt Katie and Uncle Logan. They were so cute! Katie got some great pics of them hugging and kissing. I'll see if I can post them later. Hank is 9 months older than Myra Kate. What a glamour queen Myra is with her sunglasses! Myra's almost 5 months here.
4th of July
We went to CO for our annual Lauterbach Family visit. It was great to see the family and share our precious daughter with her great grandparents. This is our little fire cracker! These are pictures of Myra with her Great grandparents, aunts and uncle. We had many laughs and a lot of fun. CO is beautiful!

Fullness
Ross has been gone f-o-u-r days and I have mothered our sweet baby girl on my own. Did you hear that? The second part of that sentence? Yes, it is an answer. God's quiet answer to a prayer of healing we began praying nearly f-i-v-e years ago. (we: friends, family, churches, and strangers) It could be so easily overlooked. Walking and dancing with my daughter, opening jars and preparing meals without horrible pain, singing with excitement and anticipating what the day holds. How simply it could go unnoticed? But that's why we named our daughter Myra--our Myracle-- our answer.
Don't get me wrong, the first part of the sentence hasn't been fun. Ross is a joy. And when he is gone, his joy, touch, and love are missed deeply. (As well as his diapering skills.) In this quiet time that I have had to be with Myra Kate, I am amazed at the fullness I feel in the simplicity of life. (life: living, breathing, eating, talking, loving eachother, sleeping) I smiled when I sang "just the two of us" earlier today. The smile warmed my heart with the awareness that God was with us, too! It was actually just the three of us! I have a feeling my loving Father was enjoying our time together more than either of us! It is so fun to give gifts and see the person you love enjoying their gift. Thank you, Father! I'm enjoying mine!

The Miracle of Being a Mom

Sunday was my first Mother's Day. It was a day that seemed so normal compared to the last few months of my life. We woke up early for a day of worship and fellowship with our church family. We rushed around the house to get ready, drank a cup of coffee to get the extra pump of energy, and prepared our hearts (and hair) for a morning of remebrance. All that was the same. Then, Ross came sneaking in with a beautifully wrapped gift and card for me... a mommy! He gave me a beautiful watch and journal. His card made me cry with joy. And as I nursed our sweet baby girl, I was overcome with joy! The joy of being a mother! The miracle that I and so many had prayed for these last five years had come to us! PRAISE!
I will always remember the first time Myra and I saw one another. The doctors had to check her out right after her birth for some precautionary reasons so I only got to see her little feet for a brief moment. About five minutes later, the nurse brought her to me. It was love at first sight! Something deep in my being changed instantly! My heart suddenly felt way too small to hold the love and emotion that was filling it. My sweet baby girl, my miracle, was looking right at me so intently! I was flooded with joy like I've never known before as well as the wonder of it all. Could I take care of this precious little child? I was amazed that God would choose me to be a mom and trust me with the responsibility of growing her up in the Lord! I saw God's love in my child so clearly. Something that five years ago would have seemed like "just the next step in life" had become a miracle for me. The miracle of being a mom.
I watch new expectant mothers and can't help but think of the miracle they will experience. I hope they all feel the love and joy that comes with motherhood. The gift of life is beautiful and amazing! Thank You God for sharing your mighty works with me!

Senior Sunday
I'm home for a few minutes before we have a special night for our seniors at church. We have one, my cousin Chance, which is fun for me. We have decorated the activity building with the help of several volunteers. Kristi has done a GREAT job delegating and pulling it all together.
All the excitiement reminded me of when I was a senior in highschool and could hardly wait to run out the door to college. So many things change at this monumental time in a person's life. The last thing I was too concerned with was the loss that I know my parents must have felt. I was so sure of my future, so confident, enthusiastic about God and eager for tomorrow. I was surrounded by friends and family and enjoyed so much laughter! I think I miss the laughter the most. The laughing for no reason at all. The silliness that brought you tears and gut wrenching pain because the laughter was more than you could bear... that's the kind of laughter I miss. Laughing with delight and completeIy clueless about the real world. The world I lived in seemed so perfect! Wouldn't it be the same, or even better, once I was on my own, in college, and free to... have a dorm curfew every night?!?!
Well, I must say that I may not have that kind of laughter in my day to day life anymore, but I think one thing I do have is peace. A deep peace in my future with my heavenly Father. A peace that understands this world is not my home and that I truly am just passing through. The expectations I have in this world are so pointless compared to what God has planned for me. The spiritual joy that life in Christ brings is so much more meaningful than worldly things. Peace is what I have.
When you don't know if you will ever walk again with out pain. Peace. When your heart has been broken by death and despair. Peace. When noone else seems to understand the burden that life has given you. Peace. When the emptiness of your home without children screams so loudly it is all you hear. Peace. When you are blessed with huge miracles in your life (Myra) that are so overwhelming it makes you feel incapable. Peace. When loneliness creeps in and you wish you had a few friends to share some painful, tear jerking laughs with... peace fills the heart.
God has given me a sense of peace that only a little dose of "life" could help create.
As I see these seniors on the brink of a new journey, I can't help but woder what dose "life" will bring their way. What will replace the carefree laughter in ten years? What will God show them and teach them as they walk in faith to their future? I don't want to sound depressing with the thoughts of losing the laughter. I don't mean there won't be laughter, but if you truly think about it, laughter has so much more meaning now than it did then. It doesn't come as easily as it did when the only thing on the calender was when to see friends, when to eat, when to sleep, and when to wash my hair.
